I bought this item and at first, loved it. Then I began questioning if it was working properly. The instructions say that this is normal and you, as a consumer must use it for thirty days as instructed, before you can request your money back.(Also at this point, you find out that you must pay shipping, and a 25% restocking fee!) So,around week 4, I realized that it actually was not heating up in the center panel...just as I had been suspecting. I contacted the seller...(LG MedSupply), and explained that I had a defective product and would like my money back. The seller e-mailed me that he needed to get in touch with the manufacturer, and he would get back with me. Never happened! I filed a claim with Amazon,they said seller agreed to refund me, and if he failed to do so within 5 days that they would cover it. I had to pay $15.00 shipping, insurance, and delivery confirmation, according to th rules. So, to make a long story shorter.... Five days have past, no seller refund as... Read more

When I just received this product there is terrible chemical smile coming from this heating pad, when I look inside, the heating parts are wrapped with plastic component; not sure it would be harmful when you heat the plastic part up? is this going to rediate more harmfull chemical then doing good to your body?

One of the reasons we bought this wool mattress pad is that my wife co-sleeps with the baby in her bed [safely]. By dint of the fact that the baby sleeps there throughout the night, there was always the inevitable spit-up or leaky diaper that occurred. Which entailed stripping the bed in the middle of the night, dabbing at the spots while trying to make sure the mattress didn't absorb the liquid, then replacing with a clean sheet. Not fun at 4am. Again. So we decided to get a waterproof mattress pad. But 99.9% of the waterproof ones are laminated with vinyl..which is a bad chemical for kids (or anyone) to be around, especially if you're a baby and you sleep right on it! We were at our wits' end because we didn't want any liquid being absorbed into the mattress and causing bacteria to grow, yet also did not want the baby to inhale chemicals as he slept. This pad is exactly what I was looking for: natural, soft, dustmite-resistant, and WASHABLE! However, Amazon is pricing it at $145 plus shipping. I found the EXACT same product for $116 with FREE shipping on Dreamsoftbedware.com!
I am really happy with this wool mattress pad, and this is just the 1" version. They also make a 1 1/4" and a 1 1/2" pile version, and they all carry a manufacturer's 1 year warranty.

I live in Florida.....and my husband likes to sleep with a down comforter. We had to get rid of our memory foam pad because it was simply too hot. I read the information about the wool mattress pad and though I was doubtful, I was also desperate because our mattress is just too firm/hard without having something on top. I love love love this. It is just so nice -- it doesn't totally mold around you like memory foam but it still relieves pressure points and it does not get hot at all. If anything I sleep much cooler because I never feel sweaty.
I would guess that if it ever got cold here the insulating features of wool would come into play too.
Also, the fact that memory foam comes with a warning that it is HIGHLY FLAMMABLE always freaked me out...the wool has natural flame resistance. I am buying two more pads for each of the twin beds so that I won't worry so much about the kids, either.
